Barcelona have been banging the goals in this season, scoring 127 goals in all competitions so far. On Saturday, Flick's men had a very rare game as they secured a 1-0 win over Leganes, with the winner coming from a Jorge Saenz own goal. Barca also had Inigo Martinez to thank for preserving a clean sheet with a brilliant lack tackle to deny Munir an equaliser.

Barcelona's defence has come under scrutiny this season for their famously high line; however, since the start of 2025, they have conceded fewer goals than the likes of Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, among others, who are considered top defensive clubs. Flick has now claimed that his side's defence will be the key for the rest of the season as they look for their third European treble.

Speaking to the media after the Leganes win, Flick said: “It was a very tough and important match for us. I’m very proud of what my team has done these past few weeks and months.

“What stands out above all else is the commitment shown from each player.

“Sometimes you might think it’s matches against Dortmund or Atletico that win titles, but it’s games like this.

“I’m very proud of the team and how they defended. Martínez’s last act in the game was perfect.”

WHAT NEXT FOR BARCELONA?

Flick is likely to rotate his side for Barcelona's next game against Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final after having beaten the Bundesliga side 4-0 in the first leg.
